Seeing the Light in the Dark Forest of Earthly Existence

Let’s continue exploring how the make-believe universe actually works. Because the Truth is pretty mind-blowing, do try to stay open. Although Course-Jesus never compares the world to a multi-dimensional virtual-reality game, the Ascended Masters who dictated The Disappearance of the Universe to Gary R. Renard did make that comparison, as have other celestial messengers speaking to us down the ages through human mediums. Don’t forget that we’re living in a dream, meaning the material universe only exists at the level of mind or imagination (as a symbolic projection).

To help you better grasp how the interdimensional aspects work, picture yourself at the edge of a dark and menacing forest (a common metaphor for the world found in scriptural texts, as well as fairytales and myths). Your objective is to get through the scary woods as quickly as possible, because there’s an Angel waiting on the other side to escort you back to Heaven. The quickest way through is to stay on the main path, which cuts straight across. You don’t know this, however.

You set off and, a little way down the trail, you meet a talking serpent, who tells you he knows a short-cut. Not only will this side-road get you through the forest faster, he claims, it also will take you past a palace filled with treasures just for you. Foolishly believing the snake has your best interests at heart, you take the short-cut and, BOOM: you drop into another dimension.

The farther you stray from the main path, the darker and creepier the forest becomes. It starts to rain. A lightning bolt hits a tree beside you, cracking it in two. The tree catches fire and the forest starts to burn. In a panic, you take another detour and another until you have no idea which direction you’re going. Unbeknownst to you, you spawned another “you” in an alternate dimension each time you changed direction. There are now three or four versions of “you” lost in the burning forest in parallel dimensions.

The storm and fire both get worse. Thunder booms loudly overhead as the crackling flames and suffocating smoke close in. There’s nowhere for you to take shelter, and no sign of the promised palace. You’re now miles from the main road, completely lost, soaked to the bone, and freezing cold. The smoke is so thick and the downpour so heavy you can hardly see your way. You bravely trudge on, shivering with cold and fear. Then, just when you think things can’t get any worse, a pack of snarling wolves emerges from the trees, blocking the path in front of you. You flee in terror, running blindly through the woods. Eventually, you find yourself on the main trail again. When you reach it, you return to the original dimension and converge with the “self” who remained on the right path the whole time.

Each time we make a choice that takes us off the Righteous Path, the system plays out that “possibility” in an alternate dimension. Meanwhile, all the versions of “you” in the various layers of unreality think they’re the only “you” in the world. Meanwhile, events like the storm, fire, and hungry wolves arise to drive you back the right way. Though you perceived these events as problems, or even catastrophes, they were actually helpful, because they redirected you back toward the Path of Return (to God).

Hence, all things work together for the greater good of our salvation.

Yes, I’m aware how fantastical this sounds. It is nevertheless how the illusion is wired. How else could this all be a memory and still accommodate free will? How else could all our wrong choices and errors have no REAL effects? Moreover, this model of Reality is loosely described by the Masters who spoke to Renard.

If you find the idea of parallel dimensions too “out there” to get your head around, let me offer a simpler explanation for how the game works: the classic children’s board game we know as “Chutes and Ladders” in America. The game was originally conceived in 2nd-Century India as a way to teach morality lessons to young Hindus. The original title was Moksha Patam, two Sanskrit words meaning “enlightenment” (Moksha) and “to drop or fall suddenly to a lower position” (Patam).

Not unlike the dream-world itself, the Moksha Patam board was covered with symbolic images (as shown above). At the top were gods, Angels, and majestic beings (symbols of Heaven), while the rest of the playing surface was illustrated with animals, flowers, and people (symbols of earthly life).

In the original version, the chutes, which moved players down the board, were snakes (symbolizing the serpent’s lies), each of which represented a particular vice. The ladders, which moved players up the board, denoted virtues. The original squares of virtue were Faith, ReliabilityGenerosity, Knowledge, and Asceticism. The opposing squares of vice were Disobedience, Vanity, Vulgarity, Theft, Lying, Drunkenness, Debt, Murder, Rage, Greed, Pride, and Lust.

The overarching moral lesson was that one could attain “enlightenment” through virtuous choices; wicked choices, on the other hand, resulted in rebirth to lower forms of life. The board contained fewer ladders than snakes, a reminder that treading the Righteous Path was more difficult than choosing a path of iniquity. Reaching the last square (number 100) represented the attainment of Moksha or spiritual liberation.

In 1892, Moksha Patam was imported from Colonial India to England, where it was modified to reflect Anglican-Victorian morals. In the spirit of the original game, the British version (renamed “Snakes and Ladders”) taught children the effects of good vs. bad deeds. The Indian virtues and vices were replaced by English ones. Squares of Fulfillment, Grace, and Success were accessible by ladders of Thrift, Penitence, and Industry, while the “snakes” of Indulgence, Disobedience, and Indolence led to Illness, Disgrace, and Poverty.

Unlike the Hindu version of the game, in which vices outnumbered virtues, the English counterpart contained an equal number of snakes and ladders. This concept of equality reflected the cultural ideal that for every “sin” committed there was a chance at redemption. This much, at least, is true. For every “error,” there is an opportunity to correct our wrong-minded thinking and forgive ourselves and others for what never occurred (because it’s all a dream and everything that happens is only a lesson to help us awaken).

In “Snakes and Ladders,” players move around the board by rolling dice. In life, we move up or down the ladder by making choices. When we choose the Ego Mind’s temptations, we land on a snake and move down. When we choose the Holy Spirit’s corrections and guidance, we land on a ladder and move up. If we don’t like where we land, we are free to choose again. Nothing in the game happens by chance; our decisions determine where we land and how long it takes us to reach the top of the board.

In the following passage from the Course, Jesus confirms what I’ve just explained:

The Holy Spirit, like the ego, is a decision. Together they constitute all the alternatives which the mind can accept and obey. The ego and the Holy Spirit are the only choices open to you. God created one, and so you cannot eradicate it. You made the other, and so you can. Only what God creates is irreversible and unchangeable. What you have made can always be changed, because when you do not think like God you are not really thinking at all. Delusional ideas are not real thoughts, although you can believe in them. But you are wrong. The function of thought comes from God and is in God. As part of His Thought, you cannot think apart from Him.

This idea is reinforced in Workbook Lesson 138 : Heaven is the decision I must make. In this exercise, Jesus explains that Heaven is a conscious choice. It is, in fact, the ONLY REAL choice we can make in the dream. First, however, we must learn that there are only two choices to make: the snake or the ladder, vice or virtue, light or darkness, Moksha or Patam, the serpent’s lies or God’s Holy Truth.

Or, to quote Jesusa;

In this insanely complicated world, Heaven appears to take the form of choice rather than merely being what it is. Of all the choices you have tried to make, this is the simplest, most definitive, the prototype of all the rest, the one which settles all decisions. If you could decide the rest, this one remains unsolved. But when you solve this one, the others are resolved with it, for all decisions but conceal this one by taking different forms. Here is the final and the only choice in which is truth accepted or denied.

In Disappearance, Masters Pursah and Arten revealed several other startling clues about how the illusion works. One of these is that our lives are pre-scripted. Another is that the Ego Mind maintains the illusion through solar radiation. Yes, that’s right. Our friend, Mr. Sun is actually brainwashing us on Sat-an’s behalf.

To grasp how this works, we first must understand that the Ego Mind isn’t local; As French philosopher Rene Descarte accurately hypothesized centuries ago, the mind isn’t the brain, which doesnt actually think (according to Course-Jesus). As part of the physical body, our gray-matter merely receives and processes the Ego Mind’s thought-transmissions. These signals come primarily through the amygdala or amygdalae, the cerebral glands that perceive and respond to fear. These glands also program and store our learned fear-conditioning in the Ego Subconscious.

Where do the Holy Spirit’s thought vibrations enter our minds? Some mystics say they come through the pineal gland, while Yogananda suggested they enter through the medulla oblongata — the uppermost part of the brain stem. Both schools of thought connect these parts of the brain to the Spiritual Eye and third-eye chakra. Since the body and spirit exist in separate dimensions (per Course-Jesus), the Holy Spirit can’t communicate with us through the brain; but he can speak to us through the third-eye or brow chakra, whose Sanskrit name is Ajna–a word meaning “God’s Thoughts,” (rather than “command” or ‘”authority,” as commonly espoused). Rightly understood, Ajna is a marriage of a (meaning God’s or “of God”) and jna (meaning higher thought or higher communications).

And the Ajna Chakra is indeed the single-eye showing us Christ’s Vision, Shiva’s Vision, or Spiritual Sight, as well as the “Mouth of God,” “Fountain,” or “Wellspring” through which God speaks the Word or Name (Om) as the Voice for Truth (the vibration preserving Creation’s unity or wholeness). Christians call that “voice” the Holy Spirit, Jews call it ruah or ruach, Hindus call it Vayu (wind) or Vishnu (the preserver), and Muslims call it Ruh al-Qudus — the messenger of God known as Gabriel or Jabril in the three Abrahamic religions.

According to Wikipedia:

The third eye (also called the mind’s eye or inner eye) is an invisible eye, usually depicted as located on the forehead, supposed to provide perception beyond ordinary sight. In Hinduism, the third eye refers to the Ajna (or brow) chakra. In both Hinduism and Buddhism, the third eye is said to be located around the middle of the forehead, slightly above the junction of the eyebrows, representing the enlightenment one achieves through meditation.

Especially in Eastern spiritual practices, the third eye refers to the gate that leads to the inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness, and often symbolizes a state of enlightenment. The third eye is often associated with religious visions, clairvoyance, the ability to observe chakras and auras, precognition, and out-of-body experiences.

Credible testimony that the Spiritual Eye is indeed the source of religious visions can be found in the Gospel of Mary, one of the formerly “lost” early texts comprising the Nag Hammadi Library. Attributed to Mary the Magdela, the wife and lifelong friend of Jesus Christ (not a redeemed prostitute), this fascinating gospel reports the following conversation between Mary and the other disciples:

“I saw the Lord in a vision and I said to him, ‘Lord, I saw you today in a vision.’ He answered and said to me, ‘Blessed are you that you did not waver at the sight of me. For where the mind is, there is the treasure.’ I said to him, ‘Lord, how does he who sees the vision see it? Through the soul or through the spirit?’ The Savior answered and said, ‘He does not see through the soul nor through the spirit, but the mind which [is] between the two—that is [what] sees the vision …’

The “mind between the two” is the Holy Spirit, as Jeus affirms in the Course. The Holy Spirit is, therefore, the Bridge of the Return repeatedly referenced in the Course, as well as the “yoke” Jesus mentions in Matthew 11:30. Actualizing that “yoke” is, btw, the purpose of True Yoga, a Sanskrit word meaning “yoke.”

In translation, the English word “mind” replaced the original Greek word nous in the above cited passage from Mary’s gospel. Nous means “eye of the mind.” Thus, in Christ’s own words, we receive the Holy Spirit’s visions and communications through the Ajna Chakra–the “single eye” and “narrow gate” he mentions in Matthew 6:22 and 7:13-14.

Here’s what he says:

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Here’s what he means:

Perceiving the illusion through Christ’s Vision (the single eye that sees only oneness) fills the “whole body” (of Christ) with light, while perceiving our brothers as the separate “selves” the Ego Mind would have us see through the body’s senses, fills the whole Body of Christ with darkness.

Returning to Mary’s vision: We may “see” religious visions in our heads, but we receive them from the Breath of God, blowing through the Christ Mind. I suspect these communications come to us via the Bindu Chakra, which is rightly defined in certain spiritual teachings as “the fountain” from which springs the Elixir of Immortality known as Amrita in Hinduism and the Blood of Christ in Christianity. Like the other better-known chakras, the Bindu resides in the Spiritual Body, not in the physical body. It is not, therefore, at the back of the head, but rather in the “mind in between.” Those who profess otherwise confuse the Bindu Chakra with the pineal gland (which explains why the two are so often conflated). Possibly a visible reflection of the mysterious Bindu or Moon Chakra, the pineal gland is situated between the brain’s two hemispheres, in close proximity to the amygdalae.

According to the website Charity Oasis:

Unlocking the power of the Bindu Chakra can open you to profound changes, guiding you into a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. As this chakra activates, your intuition sharpens, helping you make decisions with newfound clarity. Creative energy flows effortlessly, revealing imaginative depths you may not have known existed. Everyday moments begin to feel more meaningful as mindfulness heightens, turning ordinary experiences into sources of insight.

You may also feel the release of old emotional burdens, paving the way for healing and inner peace. As spiritual awakening unfolds, you’ll find yourself exploring deeper truths and feeling a powerful sense of connection with others. This journey with the Bindu Chakra creates a foundation for transformation, growth, and self-discovery.

Because the Ego Mind rules the material universe, its transmissions dictate our personal or “worldly” identities “scripted for our false ego-body self-concept. This excludes the so-called “vital energy,” “life force,” or “animating principle” known as prana in Sanskrit, anima in Latin, ruh in Islamic and Sufic teachings, pnuema in Greek, and ruah or ruach in Hebrew.

As stated before, prana refers to the Cosmic Breath of God, not the breath moving in and out of the lungs. As Jesus explains in the Course, there is no overlap between the spiritual body and the physical body. To believe otherwise is, in his words, “level confusion.”

Let me repeat: The chakras, which DO exist, are NOT in the body, as many eastern philosophies profess. Neither, for that matter, is the Soul.

Despite what most people falsely believe, the Soul never enters the body, which is purely a learning aid. In the virtual-reality learning simulator the world actually is, the Soul is the player moving its experiential character through the game-scape action.

Like virtual-reality gamers, our Souls are assigned various characters and life-scripts presenting mutually agreed-upon learning opportunities. Based on reports from numerous past-life regressions, Souls receive their “character” assignments six months or so after conception. More advanced Soul-gamers often wait until birth to connect with their new “avatars.” As all thoughts are known and recorded by the Powers That Be, fetuses that will not survive to birth are not assigned Souls.

Under hypnosis, numerous subjects, recalling their subconscious Soul memories, remember leaving their host bodies in deep sleep and persistent vegetative states, as well as during Astral projection. Souls also disconnect from their bodies during episodes of intense pain and/or trauma. By many accounts, they remain connected via a “silver cord” that allows them to come and go at will. The cord is severed when the body can no longer function, has fulfilled or outlived its purpose, or when an agonizing death is anticipated.

Physical death (apart perhaps from suicides, freak accidents, and some murders) occur on schedule and in the manner chosen by the Soul prior to entering the body. Near-death experiences are reported by those who exited ahead of schedule, but opted to return to continue the current round of play. Suicide is considered a significant learning failure, for which the Soul will receive remedial training on the “home-campus” plane where they reside and train between embodied episodes.

Those who believe that mortal life and death are gifts and/or punishments from God quite mistake the matter. Because God creates only at the level of Thought, our Heavenly Father has no hand in our physical births or deaths. The timing of our bodily entrances and exits in each “replay” of the game is controlled by our Souls, in partnership with their guides and elders on the ethereal “home” level.

As Gary Renard’s Masters explain in Disappearance. Earth is completely encased in thought-energy they call chi, which the Ego Mind pumps into the atmosphere through solar radiation. These transmissions are, I hypothesize, carried by solar electromagnetic radiation or EMR, which ebbs and flows like oceanic tides.

EMR, or the electromagnetic field, comprises all the energy radiating from the sun, including visible light waves, radio waves, microwaves, infrared rays, ultraviolet rays, gamma rays, and x-rays. Basically, it’s all the “stuff” present-day scientific instruments can observe and measure. What they can’t detect are the invisible thought-signals the Ego Mind transmits through EMR into our brains and cells to move our characters through their life-scripts and make the dream seem real.

Yes, our cells also receive Ego Mind signals. This is, in fact, how the scripts for the characters we play in each life are radiated into our bodies. We receive these scripts, I strongly suspect, through so-called “junk” DNA. According to the Masters, these scripts determine our personal preferences, tastes, and personalities, which perfectly explains the phenomena of organ-transplant recipients taking on some of the personality traits of their donors. The only way this makes sense is if the transplanted organ’s cells continue to download the original “script” in the new body.

Bruce Lipton, a pioneering cellular biologist, touched on these phenomena in The Biology of Belief, but didn’t yet see the whole picture.

Just as Earth’s moon influences the oceans, the “tides” of the magnetic push-and-pull of the planets in our solar system—and the universe beyond—impact the gaseous solar “oceans.” These changes on the sun’s surface cause fluctuations in the chi surrounding Earth. We can’t see these energy fields, but they’re everywhere. Carried by sunlight and solar wind, they permeate and influence everything EMR touches. We absorb them through our skin, the foods we eat, and the air we breathe into our lungs.

Yes, I’m aware how incredible this all sounds. What I’m divulging is, nevertheless, supported by recent findings in quantum physics. The physicists can’t explain what they’re observing yet, because they filter their findings through the ego-powered analytical intellect. And, as Jesus explains in the Course, Sat-an isn’t going to show his hand to those still invested in the illusion he so assiduously maintains to enslave the Son of God in his dark kingdom.

Consider the following material “facts” about our friend the sun: through a process known as “solar dynamo,” the sun’s core works like a gigantic electrical generator, which produces both powerful currents of energy and acts as a magnetic field. That magnetic field keeps the planets in our solar system orbiting around it without crashing into each other.

Ergo, the sun essentially locks us in its magnetic grip while downloading into our brains and cells a pre-approved life-scripts, personality traits and interests, and an anti-Reality code of behavior (the Laws of Chaos, in Course Terms). This is true for all lifeforms on earth. Coded “chi” transmissions cause the flowers to bloom and die on schedule, the trees to drop their leaves in autumn, the birds to migrate in winter and build nests in spring, and animals to mate at particular times of year. Plants and animals, unlike humans, have “group souls,” which determine what’s instinctual to each species. When they reproduce, they expand this “group soul” to include their offspring. This is why animals perceive their young as extensions of themselves. It also explains why all birds build nests, but particular species build particular kinds of nests.

How do they know to do this? And why do humans lack similar “instinctual” programming? We have to learn the basics of survival as we mature. Our maturation process also is much slower and longer than that of other animals.

Let me reiterate: It is not Divine Order that controls these things; it is the Ego Mind’s Laws of Chaos.

Some of these thought particles determine how we think and behave, while others fuse with our thoughts to manifest physical form and experiences. Meanwhile, the other dimensions, coiled within some of these invisible particles, await our next decision.

These transmissions determine everything about our egoic self-concept. We wrongly perceive ourselves as individuals running our own lives and making our own decisions, but really we’re robotic machines responding to pre-programmed scripts transmitted into our bodies through EMR chi. As Jesus explains, our brains don’t actually think independently; they simply download and process the “story software” chosen by our Souls in each round of play.

Yes, I know. This all sounds rather like the ravings of a madman, but it’s actually how the dream-world is wired. Up until now, we’ve simply bought into the Ego Mind’s propaganda, along with the scientific “evidence” that appears to validate the meaninglessness of physical (un)reality.

We must understand that science is a tool of the intellect or so-called “rational” thought. Rational thinkers deny the existence of God, believing only what they can see, touch, hear, taste, or smell (all of which are deceptive). They rely completely on physical evidence to “prove” if something is or isn’t “real.” In so doing, they wholly subscribe to the Ego Mind’s unreality. They also dismiss all evidence that more is going on in our imagined universe than the senses can perceive.

Most scientists have, to put it bluntly, swallowed Sat-an’s sun-brewed Kool-Aid and are offering the rest of us a cup. Before you drink it, my brother, take a moment to ask yourself this question: If nothing we perceive with the body’s senses is Real, do scientists or mystics have the wrong end of the stick?

While we’re on the subject of science, let’s talk about “dark energy.” As stated in an earlier post, physicists know this mysterious, invisible force is there, expanding the universe, but they can’t determine its purpose using the ever-changing “laws” they’ve created to “prove” the physical universe is real (because it isn’t). According to the latest calculations, “dark energy” makes up about 68 percent of the universe. Its presence is, however, only detected through the obsevance of various astrophysical phenomena that defy accepted theories.

Scientists know “dark energy” is there, even though they can’t see it with their instruments. Only by observing dark energy’s influence on visible matter have they determined that 1) this unseen force is everywhere and 2) it doesn’t interact with the electromagnetic field IN ANY WAY. More specifically, dark matter neither absorbs, reflects, nor emits EMR. And yet, inexplicable to modern science, this force somehow influences EVERYTHING that happens in the universe.

What is dark energy? I offer this symbolic answer from HINDUISM:

Nataraja, the Lord of the Dance (Shiva), advancing God’s Plan for Salvation behind the scenes. In Sanskrit Nataraja literally means “Lord of the Drama.”

Here’s what Jesus tells us in the Course:

The power of the Sons of God is present all the time, because they were created as creators. Their influence on each other is without limit, and must be used for their joint salvation. Each one must learn to teach that all forms of rejection are meaningless. The separation is the notion of rejection. As long as you teach this you will believe it. This is not as God thinks, and you must think as He thinks if you are to know Him again.

Remember that the Holy Spirit is the Communication Link between God the Father and His separated Sons. If you will listen to His Voice you will know that you cannot either hurt or be hurt, and that many need your blessing to help them hear this for themselves. When you perceive only this need in them, and do not respond to any other, you will have learned of me and will be as eager to share your learning as I am.

(ACIM, T-6.I.18:1–19:3)

Jesus also tells us the Holy Spirit is the only aspect of God that can penetrate the veil of darkness between Holy Creation and the dream-universe. He further explains that the Holy Spirit is aware of the Ego, but doesn’t engage with it in any way. The Ego Mind, likewise, senses a threat to its existence, but can’t comprehend what that adverse force might be.

To translate this into scientific terms, the Holy Spirit (dark energy) doesn’t interact with the electromagnetic field because EMR supports the dream that imprisons the fragmented Christ Self. The Holy Spirit is aware of Ego, but assigns it no reality. He doesn’t, therefore, interact with EMR in any way. And yet, He still influences everything that happens in the universe. He is Nataraja, the Lord of the Drama.

To summarize these ideas in the simplest terms possible:

EMR = vehicle for Ego Mind Transmissions received through the brain and cells

Dark Energy = Holy Spirit Transmissions for awakening received via the Ajna-Bindu chakra connection.

To borrow terminology from various sources, EMR is chi, while “dark energy” is prana, the lifeforce, or breath of God binding Holy Creation together in the dream. Oh, and, just so you know: Dark Energy, being SAT, will trump Sat-an’s EMR every time. So, yes. The material universe WILL eventually disappear, but through “apocalypse” or REVELATION, rather than physical explosion or implosion, as scientists would have us fearfully believe.

Let me leave you with one final thought. If a certain American bard truly understood the nature of life, he would have written:

The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I AWAKEN.

Robert Frost
